FEMA chief says he would 'never intentionally run a program incorrectly'

A senior administration official confirmed to CNN on Thursday that there is an ongoing Department of Homeland Security inspector general investigation that includes FEMA administrator Brock Long. The report said the DHS IG is investigating whether administrator Brock Long "misused government resources and personnel" on his weekend commutes back home to Hickory, N.C.

The inspector general is looking into whether taxpayers inappropriately footed the bill for Long's trips, according to the report, citing three unnamed sources.

"Before we get started on Floyd", Long said before commenting on a report he was the subject of an investigation alleging the misuse of government cars.

Long addressed the investigation Thursday, telling reporters, "Every day we work closely with the OIG and the (Government Accountability Office)" and "we'll continue to fully cooperate with any investigation that moves forward". "If we made mistakes with the way a program was run, then we'll work with OIG to get this corrected". The administrator's trips home to North Carolina have also drawn the ire of his boss, DHS secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, who reportedly confronted him about them this summer.

The news of an DHS IG investigation into Long comes as the country prepares for Hurricane Florence, a Category 2 hurricane that's expected to hit the Carolina coasts hard.

Worldwide football should be played at the end of every campaign rather than on specific dates throughout the club season, according to Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri .

"At this time, we are fully focused on preparing for, responding to, and recovering from Hurricane Florence and the storms in the Pacific".

What's more, insiders say there are communications between Long and a FEMA contractor that touch on possible future employment.

Long reportedly began having a government driver take him home since he took control of FEMA past year. Long said FEMA is used to the blame game because disasters are frustrating and FEMA is always the end of the line.

Long is now one of several top Trump administration officials who have faced intense scrutiny of their travel habits.

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is now under investigation for his role in a real estate deal in his hometown.
