Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 breathes new life into high-end Android tablets

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 breathes new life into high-end Android tablets

Today, the consumer electronics giant announced the Galaxy Tab S4, a new tablet with an optional keyboard case that appears to look and work much like Apple's iPad Pro.

The mobile business booked a 34 percent fall in operating profit to $2.4 billion in the second quarter, its biggest decline since the Galaxy S7 was Samsung's flagship model early previous year. "This 10.5" slate leans heavily on Samsung's DeX interface to provide a desktop-like multi-tasking experience in tandem with the company's Book Cover keyboard and compatible Bluetooth mice.

Admittedly, the Tab A 10.5's specs are more akin to a 2016 Android tablet, but if the price is right, it may be a good buy for families wanting a bit more out of their tablet than Amazon's Kindle devices (a popular choice for kids). Talking about the specifications, the Galaxy On8 sports a 6-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with HD+ (1480 x 720 pixels) resolution and 18.5: 9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa Core (2.35GHz + 1.9GHz) processor, up to 4GB RAM/256GB storage and support for microSD up to 400GB. Samsung says the 7,300mAh battery offers up to 16 hours of video playback. The 8 megapixel main camera and 5 megapixel front camera with flash are nothing to write home about. It comes within two storage configurations: a 64GB or a 256GB one.

But "mobile market conditions will likely remain challenging in the second half amid pricing competition and new product launches", it said, adding that it would respond by launching its Galaxy Note 9 smartphone earlier than expected.

4 speakers tuned by AKG, Dolby Atmos®. The DeX will also enable users to use the tablet as an external monitor. The Chinese smartphone maker already topped Apple when it comes to smartphone sales last quarter, and it's no secret that it'll want to displace Samsung from that top spot in the near future. And yes, it supports S Pen as well.

Global stocks steady before central bank tests
Repeated purchases of JGBs have robbed the bond market of liquidity, and near-zero rates under YCC have strained bank lending. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 107 points, or 1.4%, to 7,630, marking the lowest close for the benchmark since 5 July.

In many respects it feels like a iterative evolution of the Tab S3, offerinng a similar looking device but one that manages to be better and deliver more across the board.

Be sure to check back in soon for T3.com's full Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 review. The company is redefining the worlds of TVs, smartphones, wearable devices, tablets, digital appliances, network systems, and memory, system LSI, foundry and LED solutions.

US Cellular will get it "later in Q3 2018".

However, the South Korean firm told investors its upcoming folding phone technology, as well as set of new "unbreakable" screens, will help boost its business in the coming months.
