Imran Khan's Swearing-In In Jeopardy As Poll Panel Withholds Notification

Imran Khan's party had clinched 123 seats in Pakistan's most populous province, overthrowing the decade-long rule of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.

Imran Khan had submitted an application to the NAB through his lawyer Mr. Babar Awan seeking another date to appear in the helicopter misuse case.

The election commission halted the notification for Khan's victory from two major constituencies - Lahore and Islamabad - but notification for his success from Mianwali, Bannu, and Karachi was issued "conditionally".

"The final decision on cabinet members will be taken by Imran Khan himself,"the Dawn quoted a senior party leader, as saying". The PTI chief had received 92,891 votes while the PML-N leader managed to get 44,314 votes.

Similarly, the ECP has also withheld the result of one NA and two Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly constituencies of Nowshera from where former KP chief minister Pervez Khattak has won.

Pakistan's Election Commission (ECP) issued the list of some 261 winning candidates, but withheld the notifications of nine newly elected parliamentarians, including Khan, who is set to become the country's nineteenth premier, as well as Khawaja Asif, a former foreign minister. He is expected to take oath as prime minister around August 14.

On July 29, the ECP announced unofficial results of all 841 national and provincial assembly seats up for grabs in the 2018 general elections.

In the party meeting, PTI vice-chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi put forth the resolution to nominate Imran as the PTI's formal candidate and the resolution was accepted unanimously by the party members, reported Geo News.
