Could Raiders explore trade possibilities for Khalil Mack

The point of acknowledging the need for a new contract is to make it clear that will cut into what the Raiders can reasonably expect to get in a trade for Mack.

"But, again, do the Raiders have enough cash around to put the guaranteed money immediately into an escrow account?"

Another strong quake hits Indonesia's Lombok, witnesses say buildings have collapsed
Rescue efforts have intensified to find people buried in rubble following the quake that shook Indonesia's Lombok island. It struck northwest of Lombok, which is close to Bali, but the agency said it would not cause a tsunami.

This speculation was heated up this week when news surfaced that Mack could be a potential trade candidate since there was little to no progress being made on his contract extension. The reality is that it is never a fiscally responsible decision to acquire a player that will demand the salary allocation and draft capital that Mack demands. Mike Pettine would be able to deploy Mack in multiple packages and feel confident that he will be the best player on the field and turn the Packers defense into a championship caliber unit. The fact is, this team is going to look nothing like the one that won only six games last season, and with Jon Gruden returning to the sidelines, it is anybody's guess as to how good they can be. They want to line him up inside but they're also trying to work him, see if he might find some mismatches or can bring something to that defense as an edge rusher too. They still have an elite quarterback in Derek Carr, and if Khalil Mack would hurry up and get to camp already, they will have one of the two best defensive players in all of football. Something in the late-20s shouldn't really move the needle for Gruden and Co. It would be nice if it were a pass rusher that could help replace some of the void Mack will create upon his departure, but that shouldn't be a deal breaker.

The Rams' offseason started off with a bang, as they traded for Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters from the Kansas City Chiefs, one of the top ball-hawking cornerbacks in the game today.
