Woman poisoned with nerve agent in England dies

Dawn Sturgess, 44, died from her exposure to the nerve agent on Sunday, while Charlie Rowley, 45 is in critical condition at the Salisbury District Hospital.

I know that the House will also want to join me in expressing our honest thanks to the police and the emergency services and to the staff at Salisbury District Hospital for their tireless professionalism and for the dedicated care they provided to Dawn Sturgess and which they continue to provide to Dawn's partner, Charlie Rowley, who remains critically ill in hospital. Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, the head of Britain's counter-terror police, said that Miss Sturgess' death is being treated as murder but admitted they still haven't found the vessel containing one of the world's deadliest poisons.

Basu said that Sturgess leaves behind three children, and offered thoughts and prayers for the woman's family.

Dawn Sturgess has died and her partner Charlie Rowley is still fighting for his live in hospital, after being poisoned close to where an ex-Russian spy was struck down with the Novichok nerve agent.

Russian Federation denies any involvement in the Skripals' case. "It is completely unacceptable for our people to be objective, deliberate or accidental, or that our streets, parks or cities are poison dumps", said Javid.

Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, head of United Kingdom counter-terrorism policing, which is leading the investigation, said he was "unable to say" if the incident in Amesbury is linked to the poisoning of the Skripals on March 3 - but it is their "main line of inquiry".

Amesbury is just a 20-minute drive from Salisbury, England.

"Detectives are working as quickly and as diligently as possible to identify the source of the contamination, but this has not been established at this time".

Tour de France: BMC win stage three team time trial
On Tuesday, the Tour will head to Brittany, as the riders start in La Baule and end in Sarzeau after a 195-kilometre route. Porte's BMC team had been expected to make up for their disappointing first day when their Australian leader fell.

"We continue to be deeply anxious by the continuing presence of these poisonous substances on British territory", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked about the death of Sturgess.

Britain's interior minister visited Salisbury and nearby Amesbury, where the couple fell ill, on Sunday to reassure residents that the risk to the public remains low.

Three other men who were also in the van that day have been screened as a precaution, but are not showing any signs of having been exposed to novichok, Mr Basu said.

The murder investigation is the second major probe involving the nerve agent this year, following the case of Sergei and Yulia Skripal who were left critically ill in March. "However, it is important that the investigation is led by the evidence available and the facts alone", the Met said. Skripal was discharged from the hospital in May and his daughter was released in April.

However, several sites remain closed off as police continue to investigate.

British police are scouring sections of Salisbury and Amesbury in southwest England, searching for a container feared to be contaminated with traces of the deadly nerve agent Novichok.

Two days later, the OPCW confirms Britain's findings on the nerve agent but does not apportion blame.

The Minister of Interior, Sajid Javid, asked on Thursday explanations to Russian Federation by poisoning of Rowley and Sturgess, four months after government blamed Moscow for attack on Skripal.
