National Basketball Association free agency grades: Thunder to re-sign Raymond Felton

National Basketball Association free agency grades: Thunder to re-sign Raymond Felton

34-year-old Raymond Felton re-signed with the franchise yesterday for $2.4 million over a year. From there, the Thunder also invested in Jerami Grant (on a large, multi-year salary), Nerlens Noel (on a bargain deal), and Raymond Felton to build out a roster that is certainly more interesting than it was at the end of the 2017-2018 season. As of now, Bobby Marks of ESPN said the Thunder have $150 million in luxury tax.

The deal runs for four seasons and is worth $137million, according to a report from ESPN. That player for the Thunder, without question, is Russell Westbrook, and his most important sidekick is Paul George - who re-signed this summer.

One way to bring the team's luxury tax bill is to waive Anthony, who made a decision to stay with the Thunder after exercising the $27.9 million option on his contract.

Felton did a credible job in that role last season, providing above-average production for a player making the veteran's minimum.

Trump to Saudi Arabia: Lower Oil Prices or Else
Trump said the agreement was reached after a phone call with the Saudi King about oil production but mentioned no specifics. In response, Ardebili warned, "Your tweets have driven the prices up by at least $10 per barrel.

By using the stretch provision, the Thunder would avoid the huge luxury tax pain this season at the cost of limiting salary cap flexibility for two future years. In the playoffs, Anthony's production dropped further as he averaged just 11.8 points as they lost to the Utah Jazz in the first round.

In his first season with the Thunder, Felton averaged 6.9 points, 2.5 assists, and 16.6 minutes in 82 games. He's a career 41 percent shooter, including 33 percent from three-point range, as well as almost 79 percent from the free throw line.

However, most of the deep-dive National Basketball Association talk surrounding the Thunder right now revolves around the financial implications involved in all of their maneuvers.
