Microsoft Surface Go: a rival to Apple’s iPad?

Microsoft has officially launched the most affordable (by Microsoft) 2-in-1 notebook aka Microsoft Surface Go in the United States of America to compete against the likes of the Apple's 6th Gen iPad with Apple Pencil support.

The Surface Go is a decent little device, but it's more suited to competing with the likes of Apple's iPad than it is with the Surface Pro. Industry watchers expected the device, dubbed the Surface Mini, to be released in 2014, but it never materialized. Added to this is an 8.3 mm thin design, and a device that tips the scale at 521.6 grams sans detachable keyboard cover.

Microsoft introduced the Surface Go, a smaller tablet computer that can be seen as a rival to Apple's iPad, Google's Chromebooks or relatively low-priced Windows laptops. Just like the iPad counterpart, the Surface Go supports Microsoft's Surface Pen out of the box and features like precise writing and low latency are also supported. The device operates on 2-nuclear processor of Intel of Pentium Gold 4415Y. It offers 4GB of RAM with 64GB of eMMC storage and 8GB of RAM with 128GB SSD storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card.

Resource MsPowerUser reports on the submission of budget Microsoft Surface Go for the price of $ 400 on 13 July.

"Whether students in the classroom or professionals on the business frontline, the Surface Go has the power, portability, performance and versatility to offer a premium experience with incredible value". An LTE-enabled model will then follow later in the year.

Germany to extradite former premier Carles Puigdemont for misuse of public funds
A German state prosecutor says it will decide soon an extradition charge after the court deemed such action was permissible.

On Monday, the company teased the upcoming product with a tweet that said "Where will Surface go next?"

For security, the laptop comes with TPM 2.0 for Enterprise security and also has Windows Hello face authentication camera on the front which uses a 5 MP unit.

The keyboard on the Go really impressed us enough that we'd happily say it's the best 10-inch keyboard we've ever used, but at that form-factor, it's just not as comfortable over long periods as the larger, but arguably inferior quality, Pro keyboard.

The signature built-in kickstand and flexible hardware returns, but the new Surface tablet now comes with a USB-C 3.1 port, allowing you to charge the tablet or output video to external devices. The trackpad also supports five point multi-finger gestures, and you can also connect the new Surface Mobile Mouse if you do not want to use the trackpad.
