Massive Blast At Cairo International Airport As Fuel Station Explodes

Images on Twitter show a large plume of smoke rising from an area of Cairo International Airport.

The outskirts of Cairo International Airport have reportedly been rocked by an explosion that lit up the Egyptian capital's sky and caused emergency services to rush toward the scene.

Egypt's civial aviation minister Younis al-Masry concurred that the blast had occurred at fuel tanks outside the airport's perimeter. The minister also denied initial reports that air traffic at the airport was affected.

All flights have been suspended at the airport while officials investigate the blast.
