Administration releases documents about former Trump adviser

In an attempt to deflect suspicion away from a recently revealed FISA warrant calling his former adviser Carter Page a conspirator with the Russian government, President Donald Trump looked to the words of his friend, Fox & Friends' Pete Hegseth.

"Even in redacted form", Schiff said, "the initial FISA application and three renewals underscore the legitimate concern Federal Bureau of Investigation had about Page's activities as it was investigating Russia's interference; DOJ's transparency with the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court about a specific source; and that DOJ followed proper procedures in receiving approval from four different judges".

Trump charges the "FISA scam" led 'to the rigged Mueller Witch Hunt!,' referring to special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russia's role in the election and allegations of obstruction against the president.

The documents were part of officials' application for a warrant to the secretive foreign intelligence surveillance court, which signed off on surveilling Page. "The FBI believes Page has been the subject of a targeted recruitment by the Russian government".

"The FBI believes that Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian government", the application states, adding that "there is probable cause that such activities involve or are about to involve violations of the criminal statutes of the United States".

Yogi Ferrell backs out of two-year contract with Dallas Mavericks
After agreeing to a two-year deal with the Mavericks earlier this week, Ferrell has now backed out of the commitment. He'll now be the first man off the bench behind starters De'Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield in Sacramento.

"And: "[Page] has established relationships with Russian government officials, including Russian intelligence officers". The documents, which include an application and a warrant for surveillance of Page, were first filed in secret in October 2016, are blacked out in the version that was made public.

"Even more shocking than the civil rights abuses inherent in today's initial FISA abuse documents and its testament to @Comey & Co's very poor "legal" judgment is the complete ignorance it shows regarding Russia", Page tweeted following the release.

Page believes the FBI's mole, professor Stefan Halper, was secretly spying on him as part of a "politically motivated" investigation of Team Trump, using fake sympathy to gain his trust - all while fishing for dirt on Page's ties to Russian Federation, where he'd worked as an energy consultant.

Democrats also argue the FBI's interest in Page predated its knowledge of the opposition research dossier and say it was not the dossier and the Page FISA warrant that prompted the FBI's counterintelligence investigation into Russia, but rather an earlier conversation that former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos had with an Australian diplomat about alleged Russian dirt on Clinton. Rep. Adam Schiff, Calif., the ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, said he believes the documents "affirm that our nation faced a profound counterintelligence threat prior to the 2016 election".

US President Donald Trump has said it was looking more and more like his campaign for the 2016 presidential election had been illegally spied upon.
