SpaceX readies Falcon 9 for early morning launch

This mission was aimed at transferring the communications satellite SES-12 into its "geostationary transfer orbit".

SpaceX won't attempt to recover the first stage after the launch.

SpaceX reportedly launched its next Falcon 9 carrying a communications satellite on Monday.

SES-12 eventually will be maneuvered into its operational position at 95 degrees east longitude, co-located with SES-8.

It can help provide with Internet services to mobile operators, passengers on airplanes, cruise liners, as well as remote areas that are still without reliable connections.

"We believe around there are 1 billion people in the Asia-Pacific market that still don't have good connectivity to the devices you're all holding in your hands right now", John-Paul Hemingway, CEO of SES Networks, told reporters before the launch.

According to Airbus, the satellite is the biggest and most powerful and does not entirely rely on Electric propulsion to reach and hold its final orbit. It is expected to enter service in late January or early February.

In 20 Page Letter, Trump Lawyers Tell Mueller POTUS Can't Obstruct Justice
If Trump does not consent to an interview , Mueller will have to decide whether to go forward with a historic grand jury subpoena. Most of these items pertain to matters that, in my view, indeed can not be obstruction of justice, given the president's powers.

Racing away to the east, the booster put on a brilliant light show as it powered out of the dense lower atmosphere, smoothly accelerating as it consumed its load of liquid oxygen and kerosene rocket fuel. "And satellite is one, and sometimes the only, way to connect 2G, 3G and 4G to those markets".

The Falcon 9 rocket is seeing more use due to upgrades that give it more thrust.

This is part of SpaceX's wider goal to make launching rockets similar to commercial flights, where they "can be flown again and again".

The first stage of this Falcon 9 rocket is using one of the three remaining Block 4 cores that are being phased out for the improved Block 5 design.

Storm clouds delayed the liftoff 16 minutes from the opening of the four-hour window at 12:29 a.m.

The eventual mission will be made by the Crew Dragon, a new version of SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft that already is delivering supplies to the International Space Station. Another commercial satellite launch from the Cape may also be possible. Download the 10 News app now.
