New macOS Mojave Features That Will Change How You Use Your Mac

In the image above, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering showed off a Memoji created for CEO Tim Cook, while demonstrating a new update to iOS 12.

First and foremost is the introduction of a new Dark Mode, which brings a dark theme throughout the operating system.

The updated version, High Sierra 10.13.5, includes an array of bug fixes, from an out-of-bounds read issue that enabled the disclosure of kernel memory (CVE-2018-4253) for local users, to an injection issue in Messages enabling a local user to conduct "impersonation attacks" (CVE-2018-4235). A new feature called Siri Shortcuts allows users to create customized actions for Siri, to be triggered by certain phrases; and Apple has launched new APIs to help developers take advantage of this functionality.

Among all the underwhelming announcements of new features for its operating systems at the WWDC keynote, Apple did have something interesting to share with developers wondering about building apps for macOS and iOS. This is a multi-year project, he stressed, adding the first iOS apps Apple will bring to macOS will be made by Apple. Users can sort stacks based on date or tags.

The Mac App Store will also be getting some upgrades, with a redesign that provides editorial content to make it less of a hassle to find a Mac app for your needs.

All your files will be placed into groups such as pictures, movies, spreadsheets, and more, which you can then click on to access. In addition to the quick look at the images, users will also be able to have a peek through PDF files, videos and more.

Apple Gets Personal at WWDC With Privacy Tools, 'Memoji'
If you don't confirm you want to use the Like or Share buttons or leave a comment, they won't be able to track your data at all. Apple has been making changes to its products to limit the amount of data consumers share with advertisers.

As introduced with iOS 12, you can chat with multiple people by using Group FaceTime. Other new features includes Screenshots, Continuity Camera and Markup tools now integrated into Finder, Quick Look and Screenshots. According to Federighi, what makes macOS special is that it's explicitly tailored for desktop, which is why Apple is instead choosing to allow developers to tailor their existing iOS apps for the Mac experience.

The new update will be available this spring for Aussie users. But it's not just the News app that is coming to macOS, three other apps are too. One of the key changes were to the categories such as Play, Work, Develop.

Apple has not forgotten about data security and privacy either. And explore a completely redesigned Mac App Store.

≡ In Safari, enhanced Intelligent Tracking Prevention helps block social media "Like" or "Share" buttons and comment widgets from tracking users without permission.

The new macOS update also introduces easy and accurate screenshot captures, and new screen video recording capabilities.

Apple has announced the next version of macOS will be called Mojave.
