'It's my honor' to meet Kim

'It's my honor' to meet Kim

After the June 2000 summit, family members in North and South Korea separated by the Korean War were able to reunite, and the two Koreas marched together in the opening ceremony of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

The White House also announced Trump would be leaving Singapore earlier than previously expected and holding a media availability ahead of his departure.

The White House announced Monday that Trump would leave Singapore Tuesday night after meeting with Kim, adding that talks between USA and North Korean officials "are ongoing and have moved more quickly than expected".

Authorities have beefed up security around the hotels where Trump and Kim (Saint Regis) will be staying in central Singapore.

"Trump" and "Kim" also signed a peace treaty on the crab shells.

And until denuclearisation takes place, sanctions against North Korea would remain in place, he stressed.

But it was only Monday morning in North Korea that the government news agency reported that Kim was in Singapore, had met with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and would meet Trump on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump is predicting that he and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will have "a terrific relationship" as they meet face to face for the first time. Recently, Kim Jong Un sent him to the United States to hand-deliver a letter to Trump, making him North Korea's most senior official to visit its wartime foe in 18 years.

Still, the sense of anticipation was great in Singapore, with people lining spotless streets holding cellphones high as Trump headed to meet Lee.

Trump told reporters in Canada on Saturday any agreement with Kim would be "spur of the moment", underscoring the uncertain outcome of what he called a "mission of peace".

Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump in Singapore for historic summit
The White House said the daylong summit would also include a working lunch and a larger meeting involving aides to both leaders. When asked upon landing in Singapore how he was feeling about the encounter, Trump gave a brief answer: "Very good".

Trump and Kim arrived not long ago on Singapore's Sentosa Island, the site of their unprecedented summit.

Trump said last week that Rodman had not been invited to the summit.

He explained that he gave the North Korean official Trump's book, "Art of the Deal", while he was in North Korea.

The six-party talks were a series of denuclearization negotiations held between North Korea, South Korea, Russia, China, Japan, and the United States over the course of six years.

The pair greeted each other at a luxury hotel on Sentosa Island, just off the Singaporean coast, before heading in for talks about denuclearisation.

It's unclear what Trump and Kim might decide Tuesday.

The talks will focus on North Korea's controversial nuclear programme.

The US wants North Korea to get rid of its nuclear weapons in an irreversible manner that can be verified by the global community.
