Trump to host Californians critical of state's immigration policies at White House

President Donald Trump has once again made headlines, for supposedly referring to illegal immigrants as "animals" during a White House roundtable on California "sanctuary city" policies.

"We have people coming into the country, or trying to come in - and we're stopping a lot of them - but we're taking people out of the country", Trump said.

Trump assured Edgar that "we're with you 100 percent" and said "if it's at all possible" he would like to help the city fight the lawsuit. "These aren't people. These are animals". When Attorney General Jeff Sessions sued California over three of its sanctuary laws, Brown accused the Trump administration of waging "war" against the Golden State. "They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people".

During the session, Trump suggested that the Mayor of Oakland, California, should be charged with obstruction of justice for warning her constituents in February of an impending large-scale immigration raid and arrests.

As the Vox pointed out, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials arrested almost 45,500 non-criminal immigrants in 2017 alone. As for Libby Schaaf, I have no idea if what she did was illegal but it was certainly revealing of the attitude toward federal law enforcement on this issue.

"We'll take care of it, Margaret", Trump said.

Mainstream US media was quick to condemn the president's remarks as bigotry and racism, and a dehumanization technique aimed at any and all immigrants from Latin America who enter the US illegally across the border with Mexico. He is seeking legal changes that would make it easier to turn away or indefinitely detain asylum seekers and children.

Marseille v Atletico Madrid
Marseille had started brightly but found themselves 1-0 down to an Antoine Griezmann strike when Payet pulled up hurt. Griezmann didn't waste the glorious chance to finish a side-foot after being teed up by Gabi who intercepted the ball.

But those who want to see the president take a more compassionate approach on immigration see statements like this as conflating the minority of undocumented immigrants who get involved with criminal activity with the "dreamers" and other law-abiding immigrants.

For him to call immigrants animals is nothing new.

Steinle, a young San Francisco-area woman, was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant felon while walking on a pier with her father.

Jerry Brown unleashed fury Wednesday in a series of tweets targeting President Trump, saying he was "not impressed" with the commander-in-chief's stance on sanctuary law and that he was "lying on immigration".

"I know what you're going through right now with families is very tough", he told Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, "but those are the bad laws that the Democrats gave us".

On Tuesday Hanford city council members voted unanimously to part ways from California's sanctuary law.

"@realDonaldTrump is lying on immigration, lying about crime and lying about the laws of CA". He has called on Congress repeatedly in recent months to enact stricter laws to limit the number of immigrants who come across the US-Mexico border.
