Rapper TI arrested in Henry County; police release incident report

After T.I. parked his auto at his home, he walked back to try to get James' name, the report said.

The 37-year-old Atlanta native told The Blast website that law enforcement near his home are "white cops in a very white area", and he was promptly arrested after he and a security guard - who is black - had a "very heated debate".

The guard told police he did not recognize T.I., and did not let him in the gate. But. he returned shortly after on foot to confront the security guard again, who then called the police.

The artist, whose legal name is Clifford Harris Jr., was arrested on charges of simple assault, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors, at approximately 4 a.m.at the entrance of the Eagles Landing Country Club, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. Harris reportedly said he awakened the guard but the guard initially refused to open the gate for him.

T.I. is speaking out after being arrested while trying to enter the gated community he lives in.

"I was inconvenienced and arrested", he said. Holmes was arrested on outstanding charges out of Clayton County and for not having proof of auto insurance.

In a statement to the media, Tip's attorney Steve Sadow said the rapper "was wrongfully arrested" and accused the guard of refusing him entry after the superstar's wife confirmed he "should be let in immediately".

T.I.'s most recent album, "Paperwork", arrived in 2014, but the rapper has been working on a new release, "The Dime Trap", that is expected this year. It took Tip some time to wake up the sleeping guard.

Since his release, T.I. has addressed the issue in an Instagram livestream while attending his son's classroom birthday celebration in which he referred to the arrest as "nonsense" and "small potatoes." Tip clearly identified himself and sought entry. "When the police arrived, they were not interested in hearing Tip's side of the story and wrongfully chose to end the situation by arresting Tip".

"To see young people involved with something so important right now - that gives a sense of hope", T.I. said.
