New HTC flagship phone will be unveiled May 23

Interestingly, it is also possible that HTC may launch the U12 variant as well. Recently, we have seen leaks of the HTC U12+, suggesting that the company might launch the U12+ instead of the U12.

Flagship smartphones in 2018 have not disappointed so far. The LG G7 ThinQ was launched on the 2nd of May while the OnePlus 6 will be unveiled on May 16th in London.

HTC officially announced that a new smartphone was arriving on the 23rd May, claiming that it will be "more than the sum of its specs". In terms of Display segment, it is expected to feature a 5.5 (inch) Quad-HD+ Super LCD 6 Display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels.

It is unknown what will happen to HTC's effort in the handset market once the launch of the U12 comes around, as this project is assumed to be the completion of a design that has been in the works for years rather than a brand new model.

As for the technical specifications of the device, it's clear that the HTC U12 packs a punch. According to the image, the smartphone will sport a horizontally aligned dual rear camera along with LED flash and a fingerprint sensor.

While the full official spec sheet of the HTC U12 remains to be seen, recent rumors indicated that the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The battery capacity of the device is said to be a 3420mAh unit, and it will be an IP68 certified smartphone. It also showed the phone to have a dual camera setup in the front with minimum bezels on the top and at the bottom.
