Ford Motor Suspends F-150 Truck Production At Two Assembly Plants

The F-series is Ford's most popular automobiles, with almost 900,000 sold in 2017 at an average cost of $46,700. BMW says it expects some production interruptions at its SUV plant near Spartanburg, South Carolina. The vehicle generated $41 billion in revenue previous year, about 28 percent of total sales and the lion's share of its profits. Ford's stock fell almost 2 percent by market closing. The shares have dropped 11 percent this year.

"It's a very fluid situation", said spokesperson Kelli Felker.

The company has said it is working to resolve the supply disruption. The Avon Lake, Ohio plant makes commercial grade trucks, including the "chassis cab" F-350, F-450 and F-550, along with the big F-650 and F-750 heavy duty trucks.

Depending on how severely the parts shortage affects Ford, competitors may be able to entice truck shoppers with increased incentives.

"The automotive industry is heavily connected through the supply base", said Charlie Chesbrough, chief economist for Cox Automotive. "This isn't like picking up screws at the hardware store".

Meridian is North America's No. 1 supplier for the part in the F-150 that holds radiators in place. Just-in-time deliveries of parts directly to assembly lines boosts efficiency and save costs.

The fire occurred at supplier Meridian Magnesium Products of America, which produces various die-cast parts for several automakers.

Only three other players - Tiger Woods , Greg Norman and Nick Faldo - have been at the top longer than his current stay. I think the mental side of golf is way more important than the physical. "I feel I can play good on this golf course".

The production of some vehicles gets an unwanted halt or an adjustment in production came up due to the fire which broke out and destroyed a part of the Eaton Rapids auto parts plant.

Fiat Chrysler confirmed that Pacifica production had been affected but said no workers had been laid off.

The fire at Meridian Magnesium Products of America in Eaton Rapids, Mich. occurred May 2, injuring two people, forcing almost 150 people to evacuate the building, and destroying portions of the roof, according to The Lansing State Journal. It makes no sense for vehicle makers to manufacture it by themselves.

A fire at a supply factory in MI has halted a production line for one of Ford's most popular truck series.

Ford has about an 84-day supply of the F-Series truck in dealers' inventories, according to the company.

"We have strong inventories", Erich Merkle, Ford's sales analyst, said in a statement.

If the situation drags on for more than 30 days, however, consumers will likely begin to be deprived of the models they're nterested in. enerally this starts to happen when stocks drop below the 50-day mark. The shutdowns could cost Ford as much as 15,000 trucks per week.
