Elon Musk May Be Starting His Own Candy Company

A Berkshire Hathaway investor asked Buffett about Musk's point of view and Buffett's response nearly seemed a like dare. For Elon Musk, it's candy.

Making Musk's brick-making plans all the more weird is the fact that he's previously promised to sell off interlocking Lego-like bricks made from the rock waste produced by Boring Company tunnel digging.

Not much is now known about this notional candy company, let alone whether Musk is indeed serious about starting a company of such stark contrast to his other ventures, including cars, power walls, solar panel roofs, and colonizing Mars.

The mind Tesla and exploration company SpaceX, Elon Musk is indeed one of the most successful entrepreneurs and investors in the world and people are already debating over the idea as to what will make Elon Musk's candy company special? Moats, a competitive buffer between one's business and the rest of the competition, have historically been used by Warren Buffet.

Elon Musk took to Twitter to criticize Warren Buffett's investment philosophy, and threatened on May 5 to compete directly with one of the Berkshire Hathaway chairman's most famous businesses, See's sweets.

Buffett, however, is the champion of the moat concept. See's sweets, according to Buffett, is a company with a wide moat, since it boasts a loyal, entrenched customer base, which makes it hard from rival candy chains to steal its thunder, Fortune notes. "And Elon may turn things upside down in some areas".

Elon Musk also had something to say on the issue when he tweeted "I'm going to build a moat & fill it w candy". The two sparred over conflicting business models, with Buffet-who is the owner of Sees Candies-commenting that Musk wouldn't "want to take us on in candy".
