Deputies Respond to Reports of Shots Fired at Palmdale School

The department said on Twitter that deputies searched the elementary school and had found no evidence of a crime as of around 8:30 a.m.

The victim, a 14-year-old boy, was hit in the arm and was in stable condition at a hospital. Officials cleared a lockdown at the high school late Friday morning.

Witnesses who were outside the school described hearing a gunshot or gunshots, and seeing students running from the building.

Massive police response is reported at both schools. "Please go to Avenue P-12, and deputies will let parents through individually", Highland High School's principal said on social media.

Authorities learned a 14-year-old student with a rifle had fired and struck another student in the arm, Harris said.
