Children in California home were 'tortured for sadistic purposes'

"This is absolutely appalling", Ina Rogers said, standing in the doorway of her Fairfield home while giving reporters her reaction to charges she and her husband abused, even tortured, their 10 children.

Peggy Allen, the mother of Jonathan Allen, said she had talked to Rogers about the condition of the home, saying it was important to keep a clean house.

She told ABC: "I strive, I thrive on being a good parent to my children".

"It actually breaks your coronary heart, and also you're outraged by how a father or mother or anybody might commit these acts", Henry stated afterward.

More than a month after a California mother was arrested for allegedly torturing and abusing her 10 children in Fairfield, the local police in a statement said the kids were living in "squalor and unsafe conditions".

A Fairfield father has been charged with nine counts of torture and six counts of abuse after his children described to investigators being intentionally burned and shot with a pellet or BB gun, officials announced Monday.

Fairfield police Lt. Greg Hurlbut described the home as having human and animal feces and urine on the ground, as well as spoiled food and garbage.

The police took the children into protective custody.

On the day the children were removed, the house was messy because she had just torn it apart looking for her missing son, who was angry because they had taken away his tablet computer, Rogers said. He told her it was unlikely her son was in his back yard because his dog would have barked, he said, according to the Chronicle. "So I ripped up my whole house. tore everything out of the closet, lifted up the beds".

On Monday, she led reporters on a tour of the four-bedroom house in Fairfield, 46 miles (74 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco.

Jonathan Allen pleads not guilty to felony child cruelty & torture charges.

Rogers, who was arrested March 31 and released after posting $10,000 bail, was booked for child neglect.

The investigation revealed a long, continuous history of emotional and physical abuse faced by the children. He was being held in Solano County Jail in lieu of $1.5 million bail.

David and Louise Turpin previously pleaded not guilty to torture, child abuse and other charges in a case that has drawn worldwide attention since the couple's 17-year-old daughter escaped the family's Perris, California, home in January. "He does have a lot of tattoos. he does look a little scary so it's easy to think that he's a monster, but he's not".

The home was messy with scuffed walls and animal feces in the bathroom.

"There's no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing", Rogers told reporters in front of her house.

"So objects were obviously moved while conducting that search but that was not the basis for the charges regarding the environment the children were in though", Hurlbut said.

Neighbor Larry Magnaye stated he had no thought there have been 10 youngsters dwelling in the home throughout the road.

The 12-year-old was found and returned to the Fieldstone residence.
