Barcelona brush aside Mamelodi Sundowns in one-off friendly

Tonight's match is part of celebrations to mark 100 years since the birth of anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela.

The Spanish champions will face their South African counterparts in a post season friendly match, dubbed the Mandela Centenary Cup, on Wedneday at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg from 7pm East African time.

Ousmane Dembele, Luis Suarez and Andre Gomes scored for Barcelona against the South African league victor in a game that formed part of South Africa's celebrations to mark 100 years since the birth of Nelson Mandela, the anti-apartheid icon who died in 2013.

Valverde made multiple changes to his full-strength side at half-time before Lionel Messi came on for the final 15 minutes of the game.

Neymar? Every important player wants to play for Real Madrid, says Zidane
Should he end up joining Real, Neymar will follow in the controversial footsteps of countryman Ronaldo and Luis Figo. Messi told TyC Sports on Tuesday that "it would be bad , for all that Ney means to Barcelona ".

Suarez, Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets played the first half.

The advantage was reduced moments after Messi's introduction, but the Blaugrana will simply be happy to switch attention to Sunday's season-ending visit from Real Sociedad to Camp Nou without any injury concerns from their single-match trip to South Africa.

Sundowns president Patrice Motsepe confirmed that his outfit will play hosts to the LaLiga champions just days after clinching their eighth PSL title.
