Parts of what appear to be a maroon Honda Pilot - the same SUV the family was in on their road trip vacation - were also found, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office.

The five bodies were recovered days after authorities in Washington State began investigating the couple for possible child neglect.

While authorities determined it would not be safe to insert divers into the river, Swift Water Rescue Teams did search the bank in inflatable boats and utilized a "probing" tool to search the water remotely.

Sheriff deputies and the California Highway Patrol have been working since last week to locate and recover the vehicle.

At a press conference on Friday, the Coroner originally said that the body was that of a child but later said that it was an adult female.
