Twins Close to Signing P Lance Lynn to One-Year Deal

His history of durability prior to the surgery and his comeback gave the Twins enough comfort to guarantee Lynn $12 million over one year. Lynn posted a strong 3.43 ERA in 186 1/3 innings a year ago with the Cardinals and would fit nicely in the Twins rotation.

Lynn became a free agent in November but has remained unsigned during a slow market for veteran free agents.

Lynn missed the entire 2016 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, but bounced back in 2017 to go 11-8 with a 3.43 ERA with the St. Louis Cardinals and increase his earnings on the open market.

Kang said Friday on an official visit to Hanoi, Vietnam, "the exact timing and the place will need a lot of consideration". Kim Jong-un's Olympic détente-a remarkable (if largely symbolic) climbdown-caught most everyone by surprise.

Lance Lynn might not have to wait any longer to find out where he'll play baseball next, as the starting pitcher is close to signing a one-year deal with the Minnesota Twins, reports FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman. The righthander made a decision to accept a one-year contract and re-enter the free-agent market again next winter.

The big question surrounding Lynn is whether his peripheral numbers last season foretell a dip in performance or were simply anomalous.

Starting pitcher Lance Lynn is headed to the Minnesota Twins. Lynn's walk rate climbed to a career high, too, at 3.8 per nine. In 186.1 innings pitched he allowed 27 home runs, more than double what he allowed in 2015 in a similar amount of innings, but put up a 1.229 WHIP, more than a point lower than his last full season on the mound.
