Supreme Court asks CBI, ED to complete 2G probes within 6 months

Supreme Court asks CBI, ED to complete 2G probes within 6 months

"The country can not be kept in the dark", the Supreme Court said on Monday while directing the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate to complete investigation into all 2G Spectrum scam cases, including the Aircel-Maxis deal case, in six months.

"The issue is serious for this country". Both the investigative agencies have been criticised by the apex court after they failed completely the 2G investigation within 6 months and submit a report.

A bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Navin Sinha, who were annoyed by the delay in completion of probe in the 2G spectrum cases, which started in 2010, said it will "haul every officer involved the case if investigation is not completed within next six months".

"Why is there so much delay in completing the investigation in the 2G spectrum and ancilliary cases. We are anxious about this case, we are very unhappy", said the bench observing that the investigation has been going on for long time.

Everton says Sigurdsson could be out for 'several weeks'
The 28-year-old Sigurdsson was injured in Saturday's Premier League game against Brighton. By continuing to play, Sigurdsson may have made the injury even worse.

"It is shocking. All matters should see end of the day. This case is becoming like "touch me not", the bench said. In late December, Delhi's special trial court acquitted all the accused in 2G scam including the former Telecom Minister A Raja in 2G spectrum allocation case.

Similarly, a special CBI court also dropped all charges brought by both CBI and the ED against Maran and others accused in the Aircel-Maxis case. He is accused of giving Foreign investment Promotion Board (FIPB) green light in Aircel-Maxis case. The top court has put its stamp of approval on the Centre's decision to appoint Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta by replacing Mr Grover.

On December 21 past year, the trial court had acquitted DMK leaders Kanimozhi and A. Raja and 15 other accused in the 2G court for lack of evidence.
