Ravens reportedly to sign former Cardinals WR John Brown

Ravens reportedly to sign former Cardinals WR John Brown

The Ravens have reportedly reached a one-year deal with former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown, according to ESPN and The Baltimore Sun.

Deals can not be finalized until after 4 p.m. Wednesday, but Brown and Grant are in position to be the Ravens early receiver additions in an offseason during which the team will likely have a makeover at the position.

Brown, who was drafted in the third round in 2014, began his career making a big impact.

Arizona Cardinals' John Brown, left, scores a touchdown past Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Mills during the first half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, in Philadelphia.

Jonathan Stewart expected to sign with Giants
At Oregon, he played in 36 games with 25 starts and ranks second in school history with 2,891 rushing yards on 516 attempts. Stewart brings veteran leadership, familiarity with the Giants' offensive coordinator Mike Shula , and a hard-nose attitude.

Aside from Maclin and Brown, that leaves just Chris Moore, Breshad Perriman, and Quincy Adeboyejo as wide receivers on the roster now, along with DeVier Posey, whom the team intends to sign once free agency begins.

In 2017, Brown was plagued all season by a lingering quad injury that he first suffered in training camp and then was dealing with turf toe.

The 27-year-old Brown also has the Sickle Cell Trait, which puts a constant question mark on his health. The size of the deal for a player that has never had 600 yards receiving in a season raised some eyebrows around the league. Baltimore should continue to pursue wide receivers and could be in the mix for former Packers receiver Jordy Nelson. After a 1,000-yard season in 2015, he's failed to tally that many yards in the last two years combined.
