Over 650,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled the country following the murder of their people by Myanmar security forces.

Marzuki Darusman, chairman of the U.N. Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Myanmar, told reporters that social media had played a "determining role" in Myanmar.

On Monday two UN officials tasked with looking into abuses in Myanmar took shots at Facebook as part of a UN Human Rights Council hearing.

"The long-standing conflicts in Kachin and Shan states have recently intensified, leading to more reports of serious violations of worldwide human rights and humanitarian law committed in these areas by the security forces", it said.

Myanmar's government on Tuesday rejected two reports presented to the U.N. Human Rights Council that concluded it committed extreme human rights violations, probably amounting to crimes under worldwide law, in its repression of several minority groups.

"(Social media) has. substantively contributed to the level of acrimony and dissention and conflict, if you will, within the public a Hate speech is certainly of course a part of that", said Darusman. "As far as the Myanmar situation is concerned, social media is Facebook, and Facebook is social media", Darusman said. It was used to convey public messages, but we know that the ultra-nationalist Buddhists have their own Facebooks and are really inciting a lot of violence and a lot of hatred against the Rohingya or other ethnic minorities.

He used to drive the vehicle even though he was not registered as the driver of the vehicle and did not have a driving licence. The driver, who had not even driving license, was driving someone else's auto who was registered with the aggregator Uber.

Marzuki Darusman, chairman of a United Nations fact-finding mission on Myanmar, told the United Nations rights council that "hate speech and incitement to violence on social media is rampant, particularly on Facebook", according to a written statement of his remarks.

Sri Lanka's government spokesman Harindra B. Dassanayake commenting on the ban said, "These platforms are banned because they were spreading hate speeches and amplifying them", while adding that the government believes fake news of ethnically motivated attacks circulating on the network encouraged retaliatory violence.

"I'm afraid that Facebook has now turned into a beast", Lee told reporters.

"We take this incredibly seriously and have worked with experts in Myanmar for several years to develop safety resources and counter-speech campaigns", the spokesperson said.

"Despite the numerous warnings I have made of the risk of atrocity crimes, the worldwide community has buried its head in the sand", he said adding, this has cost the Rohingya population of Myanmar their lives, their dignity and their homes. They continue to block unmonitored access to the affected areas. We have seen unsettling photographs and satellite images of Rohingya villages flattened to the ground by bulldozers, erasing all remaining traces of the life and community that once was - not to mention destroying possible crime scenes, evidence, and landmarks.
