BJP blames Congress for impasse in Parliament

Different parties, including Congress, AIADMK and TDP, also disrupted the proceedings as they trooped into the Well raising slogans and holding placards.

Kharge and Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday levelled a direct charge of conspiracy on the government in not letting Parliament run.

The hint came in the Lok Sabha's business agenda for Tuesday, listing guillotining of the outstanding demands for grants in the Union Budget for 2018-19 at 5 pm and passing of the related Appropriation Bill. The unabated protests forced the adjournment of the House about 15 minutes after it had assembled, till 2 pm.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Kumar said the government has been in talks with different parties to end the stalemate.

The Congress expressed shock over the government running away not only from discussion on its scams but trying to shut the discussion on the demands of six ministries, including railways, agriculture and social justice, that were cleared the business advisory committee by giving notice of the guillotine.

Even after the adjournment of the House, the TRS members led by MPs B Vinod Kumar and AP Jithender Reddy staged a dharna in front of Mahatma Gandhi Statue in the Parliament Complex holding up placards.

The energy department did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the report, nor did the White House. Current and former VA employees have also emailed unconfirmed statements of mismanagement stemming from the agency .

The letter added: "This shows the government's arrogance and unilateral move to bulldoze (through) all the financial business without discussing them". "Chota Modi kahan gaya", read one of the placards.

Deputy Chairman P. J. Kurien repeatedly asked the agitating members to go back to their seats, but they did not relent.

However, the members in the Well, including those from the TDP who were demanding special status for Andhra Pradesh and the AIADMK who were seeking immediate setting up of Cauvery River Management Board, continued to raise slogans and display placards.

"If this is the way MPs are behaving, I will adjourn the House".

The BJP today blamed the Congress for the impasse in Parliament and dubbed it "anti-democratic", claiming that the party continues to have contempt for democracy as it had during the Emergency.

Kumar also made light of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's invite to opposition parties for a dinner, saying her dinner politics will be only about dinner while the BJP under Modi remains a "winner" citing the fact that the ruling NDA is steadily attracting more allies. "It is our duty to let it work, and the government has been doing everything to ensure that happens", he said.
