Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Suing Big Oil for Climate Change

During a live taping with Politico's "Off Message" podcast at South by Southwest Conference and Festivals in Austin, Texas, the retired politician and current environmental activist said he is speaking with several law firms about launching the lawsuit.

Schwarzenegger said he believes the oil industry has knowingly deteriorated the environment, which has resulted in adverse health effects for people - and he believes they should be held accountable for it.

'This is no different from the smoking issue.

On the podcast, Schwarzenegger made a comparison between oil and tobacco, a product that kills 480,000 people per year in the USA, according to the CDC.

'If you walk into a room and you know you're going to kill someone, it's first-degree murder. The tobacco industry knew for years and years and years and decades that smoking would harm people, would kill people, would create cancer, and they were hiding that fact from the people and denied it. In response, the world famous bodybuilder plans to file lawsuits, contending Big Oil has a history of producing a unsafe product while continuing a campaign of denial and secrecy.

There's evidence that oil companies know exactly how risky their products are, too, with one study finding that Exxon "knew internally about the dangers...and intentionally misled the public about them".

Furthermore, over the 90.00 days, the stock was able to yield -2.6 percent. 0 analysts gave its stock an Outperform rating. Farmers & Merchants Investments Inc sold 40,935 shares as the company's stock declined 8.66% while stock markets rallied.

"We're going to go after them, and we're going to be in there like an Alabama tick". The Terminator star's environmental campaigning has caused him to clash with U.S. President Donald Trump, who pulled out of the Paris climate accord looking to limit greenhouse gas emissions previous year.

Schwarzenegger said tobacco companies have produced a unsafe product for years and ultimately had to pay large sums of money as punishment. He suggested that every product containing a fossil fuel in it should carry a warning label, including cars and gasoline stations.

And because people should be made aware of how much their lifestyle contributes to harming the environment, he believes any product that was produced, or processed, using fossil fuels (hint: that's almost everything we buy) should have a label on it.

Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is accusing Big Oil of causing climate change.

"It is absolutely irresponsible to know that your product is killing people and to not have a warning label on it like they do in tobacco".
