As per reports, at least four people were killed and fifteen are suspected to be feared trapped under the debris of the building collapsed.

Raj also said that though the under-construction building was five-storeyed, the builders were only sanctioned to build three storeys.

All the people trapped inside are construction workers, Raj said. "Rescue team is at work. the rescuers have gone inside the building", he said.

Fire services officials said they had rescued eight labourers but one of them succumbed to injuries in the hospital and some of the rescued had sustained serious injuries. The dead bodies of the three killed labourers have been recovered. Until now, around six workers have been rescued. The rescuers have gone inside the building. The city police and National Disaster Relief Force personnel have rushed to the site for rescue operations, Karnataka State Emergency Operation Centre tweeted. There are still some persons trapped under the debris.

The Hindu reported that the Bellandur Police reported to the call and is now aiding and supervising rescue operations.

Reports said the building belonged to a Kerala-based person named Ahmed. "We are gathering more information. It (the building) was developed to accommodate paying guests but later the owner tried to convert it into a commercial building", he said.
