Phoenix Open: Gary Woodland defeats Chez Reavie in play-off

After driving into a fairway bunker at the first playoff hole, the par-four 18th, Woodland blasted out to the front edge of the green, from where he needed only two putts to clinch his third PGA Tour victory after Reavie ran up a bogey.

Arizona State Sun Devils alum Chez Reavie came up just short of his first-ever Waste Management Phoenix Open championship at TPC Scottsdale on Sunday.

Gary Woodland beat Chez Reavie in a play-off to win the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

The 36-year-old Reavie, who has only won one previous PGA Tour event in his career, forced a playoff against eventual victor and fellow Kansas native Gary Woodland by earning birdies on the 17th and 18th holes to move to 18 under for the tournament.

US Condemns Odinga's Inauguration As Kenya's President
After Tuesday's ceremony, Odinga updated his Twitter profile to call himself "President of the Republic of Kenya". Odinga claims the election was rigged and that electoral reforms in the East African nation have not been made.

Woodland, who started the day three shots off the lead, carded an impressive seven-under par round of 64 to claim the clubhouse lead at 18 under as the overnight leader Rickie Fowler and others fell by the wayside, although Chez Reavie birdied his final two holes to join Woodland and force a playoff.

Brendan Steele and Ollie Schniederjans shared third place on 269.

A bogey at the fifth from Fowler saw Reavie pull two clear with a 15-foot gain on the same hole, with the leader pitching in to save par from the rough at the par-four next. Five-time major victor Phil Mickelson, an Arizona fan favorite, carded a 69 to head a group of four on 270.
