Female chefs from Philly make the James Beard 'long list'

Vicia could be a big, big victor in this year's biggest food awards - the Central West End restaurant is a semi-finalist in the James Beard Foundation's best new restaurant category.

This morning, the James Beard Foundation announced its Restaurant and Chef Award semifinalists.

This list of semifinalists will be narrowed down to final nominees on March 14. Corktown's Lady of the House got a nod in the Best New Restaurant category.

Also, on the Best Chefs:South semifinalist list is Bill Briand, who works at Fisher's in Orange Beach, Florida.

Hansen's Sno-Bliz, Mosca's and Willie Mae's Scotch House are other New Orleans businesses to win the America's Classics award in past years.

Finally, on May 7, the winners of the awards will be announced during a ceremony in Chicago.
