5 dead in awful crash on Long Island involved stolen vehicle

A fiery crash left five dead after an allegedly stolen auto, an oil truck and two other vehicles collided in Ridge on Wednesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

The four-car pileup included an oil truck and stolen auto on a major road in Ridge, New York, after 11:20 a.m., ABC New York station WABC reported. Lonidell Skinner, 19, a Bellport resident and passenger in the stolen vehicle, was ejected and killed.

Jamel Turner, 23, was driving a stolen Camaro when he crashed into a Mazda and an oil truck.

The crash happened shortly after 11 a.m. on State Route 25 in Ridge, the police said.

The Mazda - carrying four people whose names the police did not release - burst into flames, and everyone in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, a Suffolk County police spokeswoman said. Four of those killed were in one auto, officials said.

Images from the scene showed a large debris field and at least one auto incinerated. Police said Route 25 will be closed in both directions through Wednesday evening as a result.
