Weekend Winter Storm Could Bring Several Inches of Snow to Central Indiana

Today features the warmest push of air all week. The freezing rain potential is the best from central IN up to areas around USA 30.

We may be enjoying a "heat wave" in central in right now, but it'll be short-lived as the next winter system makes its way into the area with the potential to drop several inches of snow along its path. Then, tomorrow morning we see rain change over to snow. That means a likely coating of ice on the roads for the evening commute, leading to potentially risky, slick travel conditions.

A wintry mix of Freezing rain and sleet is underway. Heavier accumulations are anticipated along the Ohio River Counties and northern half of the district with possibly less in the counties to the south. Farther west and north, moisture is gone before precipitation can really take hold as snow.

U.S. soothes Indian H-1B concerns
Since taking office last January, the Trump administration has been talking about cracking down on the H- 1B visa scheme. This provides for H-1B extensions beyond the six-year cap that is prevailing now.

Our next storm system is already churning and it has quite the potential to be a major snow impact.

It's those details that will help determine what type and how much precipitation we can expect in central in - and whether we can expect less than an inch or a few inches of snow and where. Today, those winds will be southwest, fueling the warm up.

Motorists should pay close attention to the local forecast as accumulation numbers may change as the winter storm approaches. With breezy winds, those caught in snow bands could experience blowing snow, reducing visibility at times. A fairly strong clipper system moves through the region Monday into early Tuesday that brings a coating to 2 inches to about 50% of the state. Turning colder through the day. Northern areas will be in the teens and low 20s through out, southern areas should be solidly in the 20s and flirt with the lower 30s from time to time. This can bring snows back, and may favor southwest, south central and central OH over other parts of the state. Our pattern looks to remain somewhat active through the reminder of January.
