Tom Brady won't talk about hand injury, non-committal about Sunday

The five-times Super Bowl champion, who injured his right throwing hand during practice on Wednesday, had a chance to shed some light on what has become the biggest story of the week in New England but chose to keep everyone guessing.

Brady has been officially listed as questionable for the AFC Championship Game, and said "We'll see", when asked if he could play Sunday.

He wore gloves on both of his hands during practice and when talking to the media after.

When he finally met with reporters, he wasn't forthcoming with any information on the hand.

Obviously, the major question still involves Brady's velocity with the injured hand, and that factor might not be apparent until his first pass.

If Brady is limited in his throws or even how he can receive snaps, it could prove troublesome for the Patriots against the Jacksonville Jaguars' league-leading defense.

Jaguars defensive end Calais Campbell said their respect for Brady is high. Both teams are good but not great in the middle, and the Vikings rate a clear edge in the secondary. They do a lot of things well, play good defense, can rush the passer, can stop the run, turn the ball over, can run the ball, have a lot of explosive players in the passing game, they're good in the kicking game, they're very aggressive in the kicking game.

Like Brady, coach Bill Belichick wasn't too forthcoming in regard to the status of quarterback in his Friday morning press conference.

The 71-year-old executive VP of football operations started this franchise in 1995, working from an office in a trailer outside the stadium then known as the Gator Bowl. "This is a big game".

The key issue that remains unresolved, however, is whether Bannon can cite executive privilege for the time during the transition. Bannon testified before Congress in a closed-door meeting this week to discuss alleged "Russian meddling" in the USA elections.

Brady said he "was out there" for the entirety of Friday's practice, the last of the week before a walk-through Saturday.

Four of the five teams that gave up the fewest points during the regular season are the last four left with a shot at the Super Bowl, something that had never happened since the NFL-AFL merger almost a half-century ago.

Recent history doesn't provide much of a glimpse into what to expect on Sunday afternoon from the Jacksonville Jaguars. It's why hand size in a quarterback is something people look at.

For Brady, a dogged competitor, why give the opponents any information when you can keep them guessing? It's constantly being that gnat in his face.

"Absolutely", Brady said when asked if he would have to be at the top of his game to beat the Jaguars. "If I get bucked off, I get bucked off". Forty yards. You happy about that sack? And, in 2009: "Brett Favre throws an interception with just seconds to go". "He's phenomenal to watch".

Brian Hoyer is the Patriots back-up quarterback, and would start in AFC Championship if Brady is unable to play.

Brady posted his 26th postseason victory last week, recorded his 13th 300-yard postseason passing game - extending his National Football League record for both - and also broke a tie with Joe Montana to become the all-time leader with 10 three-TD playoff games. The Patriots signed Hoyer mid-season after trading away Garoppolo. Asked if he'll be playing on Sunday, Brady replied, "we'll see".

Including the playoffs, the Jaguars scored eight defensive touchdowns this season, three more than any other team.

General Manager David Caldwell took over in 2013 and after a few so-so drafts, he completely nailed his 2016 selections: cornerback Jalen Ramsey in the first round at No. 5 overall, linebacker Myles Jack in the second round and defensive end Yannick Ngakoue in the third.
