Texas A&M Knocks Lady Vols From Unbeaten Ranks

Tennessee: The Lady Vols might drop a bit from No. 6, but pollsters will keep in mind it was a tight game on the road against a quality foe.

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes, looking to lead the Vols to what would be their first NCAA Tournament appearance in four years, called out his team for being "immature" in the disappointing loss to the Tigers.

Khaalia Hillsman led the Aggies (14-4, 3-1 SEC) with 22 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor and added 11 boards.

Texas A&M won against a top-10 team for the first time since November 30, 2014, when the Aggies defeated No. 8 Duke 63-59 in College Station. Rennia Davis and Cheridene Green both helped with 12 apiece.

Texas A&M knocked Tennessee from the ranks of the undefeated on Thursday night.

Tennessee had 42.5 percent shooting from the field, converted only 5-of-19 threes, and, for the first time all season, lost the battle at the charity stripe, making only 9-of-11, but yielding 21-of-26 to the Aggies. Hillsman remained flawless from the floor, however, going 5-for-5 with 10 points and seven boards for A&M. The run was led by Chennedy Carter's hot hand, but the freshman eventually cooled off and the Ags couldn't hold onto their lead. A&M was on fire in the fourth quarter, extending their lead as high as seven at 69-62. UT was down by six in the fourth period, but held TAMU scoreless for the final four minutes to garner the tie.

With 1:15 on the clock, Nared drove the lane and finished on a layup to tie the score at 70. Both teams were getting after it.

While the loss ends the 15-game win streak for Tennessee, the Lady Vols must now turn their attention to a trio of top-ranked opponents that would leave most programs in a losing skid. She has 18 career 20+ point games, which ranks sixth at Texas A&M.

A&M would put the game on ice with two more free throws from Williams in the games final seconds to bring the game to its final score, 79-76.

Down 76-74 with seven seconds left, Williams was fouled on a three-point shot.
