Show inspired by life, legacy of Selena to hit TV airwaves

Selena's siblings, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. and Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga, will produce the series, according to Variety.

ABC Studios, Campanario Entertainment and SB Projects are in development on a music-driven scripted family drama for ABC that is inspired by the late singer Selena Quintanilla.

The unnamed project sees Miquel Nolla take on the role as writer and co-executive producer, bringing with him experience gained on the sets of "Private Practice", "Grey's Anatomy", and "Scandal", while members of the Latin icon's family will also team up as producers for the show.

Quintanilla, known as the "Queen of Tejano" music, was murdered in 1995 by her former employee.

While no official word has come down on where and when the show would air, based on Suzette's statement and Nolla's credits, it would appear that the show would run on ABC.

The series will focus on the fictitious Guerra, an award-winning pop star who has been estranged from her family for five years.

Now, ABC has teamed up with Campanario Entertainment and SB Projects to create a pilot inspired by the musical legend. After she is forced to return home to Texas, Alex has to juggle her love life and career, all while reconciling with her family.

Jaime Davila, president of Campanario Entertainment, said the project allowed for an opportunity to "showcase a successful, aspirational Latino family in a way that is not now represented on television".
