Our Favorite Gear Brands Are Already Using Pantone's Color of the Year

Revealed earlier today, the Ultra Violet colour is described by Pantone as "a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade". But Pantone's choice for 2018 is one that's a little *less* frequently found in nature, and it's making the future look just a little brighter.

Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vibrant hue comes as Pantone's way of giving people what they need in the new year.

Purple will reign in the coming year.

Did Conor McGregor and Rita Ora get close on their 'date-night'?
Conor and Rita created quite a stir on Tuesday night as they attended the Fashion Awards as dates of Donatella Versace. While it seemed to some to be tongue-in-cheek, her post on Twitter and Instagram was flooded with angry comments.

Next year, everything's gonna be purple. 2017 has certainly seen some progress, but hopefully the new year will bring even more - and maybe Ultra Violet can help inspire that change. Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets. Does a shade acquired by mixing pink and blue-the traditional indicators of "girl" and "boy"-indicate a cultural questioning of gender norms (fans posed similar questions in 2016 when the company named two colors, Rose Quartz and Serenity)?"

"We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination", said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
