Aftershocks felt after North Korea's nuclear test 'shifted Earth's crust'

Pictures released by the regime show the Kim in the snow at the 9022ft, on North Korea's border with China, which the regime rewrote history to claim was birthplace of Kim Il-Sung, the Communist who ruled from after the Second World War until 1994.

But ties between China and North Korea have deteriorated, with Pyongyang dismayed at Beijing's support for United Nations sanctions - so much so that Song Tao, a special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, failed to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on a trip to Pyongyang last month.

A thousand years ago it exploded so violently that ash fell as far away as northern Japan.

The USGS official claimed the tremors originated near the Punggye-ri nuclear test site - the location where North Korea carried out its largest nuclear test to date on September 3.

North Korea claim its September test was a H-bomb - with experts claiming it was an estimated 10 times more powerful than the U.S. atomic bomb which was dropped on Hiroshima in 1945.

Since the end of World War II, the USA has invaded 50 countries and bombed 29, none of which had nuclear weapons.

The annual U.S. -South Korean "Vigilant Ace" exercises feature 230 aircraft, including some of the most advanced U.S. stealth warplanes.

Could Russia replace China as power broker on North Korea?

Line of lights in sky prompts calls, curiosity
A military spokesperson told WLTX the cargo jets returned to their base in Charleston, South Carolina, at about 4 a.m. Callers described the lights as a line of red and white lights that were flying in formation from east to west.

USA national security adviser H.R. McMaster said at the weekend the possibility of war was 'increasing every day'.

The Pentagon said it has "no intent" to move out any dependants.

Tremors, believed to be the result of North Korea's test of a powerful staged thermonuclear weapon in early September, were detected near the Punggye-ri Nuclear Test Site Saturday, a U.S. Geological Survey official told Reuters.

'The United States looks forward to continuing its partnership with both these nations so that the DPRK will return to credible talks on denuclearization, ' it added.

While diplomatic observers - and Chinese officials - have welcomed an offer by Moscow to host direct negotiations between the U.S. and North Korea, many observe that the move is another example of how Pyongyang continues to drift away from Beijing, increasing the threat of a military confrontation on the peninsula.

Lavrov was speaking Friday while attending an OSCE ministerial summit in Vienna.

Washington and Pyongyang have continued to threaten each other over the past two weeks, as USA nuclear-capable B-1B bombers participate in large-scale war exercises following closely on the heels of another DPRK ICBM test launch.
