ShakeOut quake drill set Thursday

ShakeOut quake drill set Thursday

"ShakeOut encourages cross-sector, whole community conversation and action about natural disaster preparedness, inspiring people to make better decisions for how they can prepare to survive and recover", said Mark Benthien, Global ShakeOut Coordinator and Outreach Director for the Southern California quake Center at the University of Southern California. Don't miss a thing.

The annual Great B.C. ShakeOut drill will take place at 10:19 a.m. and the City of Parksville is encouraging residents to take part. "ShakeOut is a ideal opportunity to practice-and to review other aspects of emergency plans and financial preparations to ensure you're ready for the unexpected". This is the sixth year the state has participated in the drill. The VCFPD appreciates the School District for their commitment to the safety of their students.

Last year, more than 1.1 million people signed up to participate in the drills. In addition to teaching the proper safety techniques while inside the building, school officials have also planned evacuation drills specialized to each institution.

First Republic Bank (NYSE:FRC) Closes at $96.66, Underpriced by 9.7%
DaVita Inc., formerly DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc., operates two divisions: DaVita Kidney Care and DaVita Medical Group (DMG). Escalating costs owing to investments in digital initiatives are expected to hurt the bank's bottom-line growth further.

During the drill, communities, families, businesses and schools will practice their drop, cover and hold skills, according to a press release from the Washington State National Guard's Emergency Management Division.

More than 600,000 students, teachers and staff have signed up for the drill. "If you're at the school, you're drilling right alongside us". At this point, the government is recommending that you store two weeks worth of emergency supplies, which might be fine if you live in a mansion on Capitol Hill but is a bit of a problem for those of us who live in apartments the size of jail cells.
