An "Anne Frank costume for girls" being sold on online Halloween costume stores whipped up controversy across the internet Monday.

Candyapplecostumes.com's description of the costume says: "This child size 1930s-1940s girl costume was designed by a British company to represent the British children who were evacuated from London to the countryside during World War II, like the Pevensie children in the Narnia books".

Screenshots of the costume were widely shared across Twitter with many questioning the insensitive or questionable nature of the outfit.
