Here's what the NRA thinks about regulations on gun bump stocks

The National Rifle Association announced its support Thursday for regulating "bump stocks", devices that can effectively convert semi-automatic rifles into fully automated weapons and that were apparently used in the Las Vegas massacre to lethal effect.

Gun sellers told CNNMoney they believe the sales spike is driven by fears of tighter gun control - perhaps including a ban on bump stocks - since the attack in Las Vegas, the deadliest shooting in modern US history.

"We certainly welcome that and would like to be part of that conversation", Sanders said.

"I hadn't figured out what they were until this week", Rep. Mark Walker, a conservative North Carolina Republican who has received NRA support in past elections, said Thursday. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), who said he would vote for a ban on bump stocks, and Sen.

The weapon is still technically considered to be semi-automatic because there is no modification to the weapon's firing mechanism, but the bump stock allows it to fire nearly as rapidly as an automatic weapon. Earlier this month, it was advertising bump fire stocks that it said were licensed by Slide Fire. After the deadly school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012, Feinstein again attempted to pass an assault weapons ban - which included a ban on bump stocks - but the legislation did not pass.

Bump stocks are fastened to the butt-end of a semiautomatic rifle, which typically fires just one round per each pull of the trigger.

"I think this is an area we can look at", the California Republican told The Daily Caller News Foundation, adding the topic stems back to The Firearm Owners' Protection Act of 1986, which banned the manufacturing of automatic weapons for civilian purchase.

The White House says President Donald Trump welcomes a review of USA policy on so-called bump stock devices that legally make semi-automatic rifles into faster-firing automatic weapons.

North Korean ship smuggling huge weapons cache seized in Egypt
It was unclear whether North Korea received payment for the estimated $23 million worth of arms smuggled in the shipment. The UN report described the deal as "largest seizure of ammunition in the history of sanctions" against North Korea.

"But you should also be looking at overall what could reduce the number of homicides and deaths, and background checks should be part of the discussion", she said. It can reportedly allow a gun to shoot hundred of rounds per minute.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) introduced legislation to ban bump stocks on Wednesday. They're legal and originally were meant to help people with limited hand mobility fire a semi-automatic without the individual trigger pulls required.

But the intense scrutiny has made them harder to get: A week ago bump stocks sold for about $100. Bond had never fired a "bump stock" before.

The NRA also called on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to immediately review whether the devices, known as "bump stocks" comply with federal law.

Several Republican senators have said the proposal is worth a hearing, which is progress. Sen.

"We're not going to talk about that today", the president said, when asked about gun issues.

Republican governors in Nevada, North Dakota, Tennessee, Utah and New Jersey all have signed bills this year tightening access to guns.
