'Star Wars: Episode IX' changes release date

'Star Wars: Episode IX' changes release date

Earlier the release date was scheduled to be May 24, 2019.

The pair reportedly clashed with Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy over their vision for the film. As you know, it was Abrams who breathed new life into the Star Wars franchise by writing and directing Star Wars: The Force Awakens which shattered every box office record in 2015. With Looper's Rian Johnson overseeing December's Episode VIII, it appeared as though Lucasfilm was intent in taking more behind-the-camera chances with the franchise than George Lucas ever did (Lucas directed four of the Star Wars movies released between 1977 and 2005 and held creative sway over the rest). More as we hear it.

With the news that JJ Abrams has been hired to cowrite and direct Episode IX, Lucasfilm's message is clear: It's time to restore peace to the Star Wars galaxy. The internet rumour mill has been trying to fill in some of the gaps since, but neither party has actually added anything concrete since the official statement announcing the news was released. When Episode IX unexpectedly lost its director, indie darling Colin Trevorrow, they found a replacement for him within a week. In fact, the latter soon seemed to be the clear favourite. Johnson is best known for the 2012 film "Looper", a trippy sci-fi thriller that starred Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. But I went in and he ended up giving me this tiny role with a couple lines. "Whoever does it, I'm going to be really excited to be an audience member again, and to sit down and see what the next filmmaker has to show us and where this story ends up going".

Jennifer Lawrence Is Taking a Break From Acting
Jennifer Lawrence is one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, with a string of hits and even an Oscar . It is then that Lawrence reveals the devastating news that she has nothing planned for the next two years.

The movie, the last in the new trilogy, had already faced creative challenges after the sudden death previous year of Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia. It also means we can expect the LEgo releases for the movie (and all other merch) to hit when it has the past three years: in September.

Instead, Disney just had to replace a second director on a Star Wars film in the past six months. Rumours were doing rounds that the studios were not satisfied with his last movie, The Book of Henry. Abrams' own The Force Awakens was also originally tapped for a May release but then got pushed back to December 2015. In fact, it should just be the plan from now on for Lucasfilm and Star Wars.

Bear in mind, these dates are thus far only confirmed for U.S. cinemas, but Disney have been good for getting their films out at the same time internationally. Following Trevorrow's departure, neither Thorne nor Trevorrow are attached to the Episode IX script. By contrast, the period of the output may be interesting, since a week before The Episode IX, a small film will arrive on our screens....
