North Korea accuses U.S. of declaring war, says can take countermeasures

North Korea's foreign minister says Trump's latest statement was "a declaration of war" against his country.

In the latest show of military force, the US flew bombers off North Korea's eastern coast on Saturday.

Just hours before Ri took the United Nations podium, U.S. bombers flew off the east coast of North Korea, the furthest north of the demilitarized zone that any USA aircraft has flown this century.

Pentagon spokesperson Dana White said the operation was aimed at "underscoring the seriousness with which we take (North Korea's) reckless behavior".

North Korea's leader, Kim Jong Un, has said Trump would "pay dearly" for threatening to "totally destroy" North Korea if the US was forced to defend itself or its allies against a North Korean attack.

North Korea's Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho, warned that Kim could consider a hydrogen bomb test of an unprecedented scale over the Pacific.

North Korea, a country of 26 million people, says it needs a strong nuclear deterrent to protect it from the U.S., and its government has made militarism a central part of its national ideology.

Trump's broadside follows a rare statement issued by Kim, branding the USA president as "deranged" and warning he will "pay dearly" for his threat to "totally destroy" the North if it attacks.

On Thursday, Trump announced the widening of US sanctions against the North banning USA companies and institutions from financing and facilitating trade with the country.

North Korea's foreign minister assailed US President Donald Trump at the United Nations on Saturday, September 23, deriding him as a "mentally deranged" leader whose threats had increased the chances of military confrontation.

North Korea continued to flex its military power with another missile test last week.

The North Korean minister said that the sanctions imposed on his nation by the UN will have no effect on Pyongyang's resolve to develop its nuclear weapons, with the ultimate goal being "balance of power with the United States". Tensions have continued to rise around the Korean Peninsula since Pyongyang carried out its sixth nuclear test, prompting a new round of United Nations sanctions.

In an unprecedented direct statement on Friday, Kim described Trump as a "mentally deranged USA dotard" whom he would tame with fire.

Kim's remarks on Friday followed Trump's remarks at the UN General Assembly that he may "have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea", deriding Kim as "Rocket Man".

Trump and Jong Un have traded increasingly threatening and personal insults as Pyongyang continues developing and testing its nuclear missiles - even ones that it claims can reach the U.S. "You could call it declaring war, call it whatever you want", said Hunter, who was investigated by the Justice Department for spending campaign funds on, among other things, more than $1,000 in video games.

"Trump's insults make our rocket's visit to the entire United States mainland inevitable all the more", the Independent quoted Yong Ho as saying.

Kim Jong returned the insult by saying that Trump was a "mentally deranged USA dotard".

"It could be the most powerful detonation of an H-bomb in the Pacific", Ri said. He says the USA keeps pressing Russian Federation and China to do more to squeeze Pyongyang economically.
